The Hotel is the gateway to the World Heritage Areas including Mount Field National Park (entrance only 500 metres from the Hotel) and South West National Park. A short drive away, near the township of Maydena, are the Marriot Falls State Reserve and the Junee Cave State Reserve. A little further down the road is the Styx Valley and Florentine Valley. Both home to some of the tallest hardwoods in the world. Further along Gordon River Road is the historic township of Strath Gordon.
The Tyenna River behind the hotel offers the best wild river trout fishing in the southern hemisphere and some of the best trout fishing in the world. The historic Salmon Ponds may also interest the keen fisherman and tourist alike.
Explore the beautiful Tasmanian countryside by driving the loop road through the historic villages of Ellendale, Hamilton & Gretna. Continue through to New Norfolk and explore the antique trail before arriving back at the Hotel via beautiful Plenty and the breathtaking valley views outside Glenora. The Hotel provides evening meals for guests all year round and is open to the public during the warmer months. There are also packed explorer lunches available. Mt Mawson Ski Fields (weather willing) are a short drive from the Hotel in the Mount Field National Park.
